I keep talking with my clients about "Others," a term I've taken from the series "Lost." If you are an ADDer, you probably know immediately who I'm talking about. They are those people who spring out of bed in the morning without pressing snooze, eat breakfast and wash ALL the dishes, and head out the door early, with EVERYTHING they need for the day - without having to search for anything. It's the folks who think returning emails and calls, doing paperwork, chores, etc. is the "easy stuff." The ones who show up at meetings with all the needed documents accessible in an instant... you probably know at least one...
They are often our family and friends. They may love us completely. They are the ones who, while well-meaning, say, "just try harder," "put things away right after you use them", "get up 30 minutes earlier".... You know the ones. They are also the ones who just don't "get it." The main thing to understand, in my opinion, is that they CAN'T get it. And that is because they are wired so utterly differently that our behavior just doesn't make sense to them.
And while they can cause a lot of frustration and despair (as we can to them), it's a good thing the world has them. After all, someone has to sit in those cubicles from 9-5!
